Our free on-campus counseling services provide the wellness-based support you deserve, helping you achieve the balance necessary to make the most of your college years.
Accessing counseling services — right on campus
At University of Bridgeport, your wellness is what matters the most. Whether you’re a part-time, full-time, undergraduate, or graduate student studying on campus or online, UB has your back. We offer free in-person and virtual counseling services to all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff at any time of need. Located on the 2nd floor of Carstensen Hall, our counseling team is equipped to address the concerns of diverse learners from all backgrounds — providing support for needs ranging from academic success to anxiety and depression.

Emergency support services
During our office hours, emergencies are handled immediately. In the event of an evening or weekend emergency, on-campus students can dial 4911, and their therapist will be notified. Off-campus students in crisis should dial 911.

UB statement of confidentiality
All counseling sessions are confidential, including information related to session attendance, information exchanged in counseling, and records kept by Counseling Services. No information pertaining to counseling sessions will be included in academic records or job placement files. Students who wish to authorize the release of information can do so only with expressed written consent.
- When Counseling Services’ staff believe an individual presents an imminent danger to him/herself or others.
- When the life or safety of an identifiable person is at risk.
- When Counseling Services’ staff believes that a child or vulnerable adult is being subjected to abuse, neglect, or exploitation.
- When a court of law mandates or subpoena’s information.
Counseling Services is subject to Connecticut privacy laws and ethical codes of the National Association of Social Workers, the American Counseling Association, and the American Psychiatric Association. If you have specific questions about our policies on confidentiality, please ask a staff counselor, the consulting APRN, or the director of Counseling Services.
